Their first assignment: helping Jeff Waters find love and saving him from the darkness threatening to overtake him.
Betrayed is book one in the Angels of Affection series by Carly Fall. It’s all about Liam and Adela, former Angels of Death, suddenly shouldering a task of looking for love for Jeff Waters, a police officer who was left by his cheating wife. Because of sudden “epidemic of hate” in the Earth, they were re-assigned as Angels of Affection, or angels who help people fall in love. Both Liam and Adela were ignorant of what true love really is and now they’re sent to Earth to live as humans, without their angel abilities, and look for humane ways how to reunite those who were meant to be together.
"Everyone's life had a basic plan that twisted and turned destiny depending on decisions made. Death never happened early"
Liam started the book on how he died as a fireman and after death became an Angel of Death. He was introduced as a womanizing and obnoxious man, but there was more to him. He was scarred by the death of the love of his life and swore that he’d never let anyone close enough to love again. Adela, on the other hand, was a 300 year old Angel of Death, a feisty, rule abiding, beautiful fair skinned blond. She on the other hand, hadn't had the chance to feel loved when she was still alive thus, her ignorance about love. The story introduced us to a whole new world of Heaven, well if I were to describe it it was heavenly heaven(sorry). It showed a whole new side of heaven I never thought of. There, people who died became Angels of Death, BUT belonged to different levels or tiers and our MCs belonged to Angels of Tolerance. They don’t deserve to be in Hell, yet they don’t qualify too in the upper heaven. Jeff is a police officer who seemed to be getting consumed by his sadness upon losing his wife. Not by death, but because he was cheated on by his wife and she left him. He was Liam and Adela’s first assignment, because the Creator believed that the only thing that can cure the darkness consuming Jeff is love.
"Love is the only true combatant against hate, the only thing that can change the course of the human's path to self destruction."
“Will the world be a better place if there were really angels who help people realize and feel love?” This book has been sent to me for review and honestly I was pressured because I’m worried I won’t have the right words to express how I feel about this book, but believe me when I say that this is worth a shot. Before I would get bored with this kinds of books because I have been loving the contemporary genre and I like that it is somewhat relatable, but after starting this one I just can’t put it down. If not for lack of sleep, I would've finished this book in one sitting. This book was really short and I liked that the MCs past lives were told. I really don’t like guessing or assuming what influenced the characters attitude. I also liked that the MCs didn't succumb to their lust and hook up, I just didn't find it appropriate because obviously they didn't have emotions when they were still Angels of Death, and slow building romance is the way to get bookworms hooked(well, in my case).
The only thing I think I didn't like in this book was there were some parts that I think were not too important in the story. Another thing was the ending was a bit too lacking, I was looking forward to Jeff’s story towards the end and before I know it, the book has ended. The book was okay, but I wished it had a bit more in the end. I know this is included in a series but it wouldn't hurt to add some bits and pieces to the story right? Rather than things that you've already read on the first few pages only to find yourself reading the same thing again in the middle part, just with different sentences. If you’re a fan of hot and sexy angels roaming the earth then this book is for you. I did enjoy it, but there were just some things I didn't find satisfying.
3 out of 5

This sounds great! I love slow building romances! They are the absolute best! I love stories about Angels, and this one sounds unique from others I've read. I agree that it's great that you were told about the Angel's past lives, so you didn't have to do a bunch of guessing! Wonderful Review Ella :)

Mm, sounds really interesting. Probably not my typical read, but I DO love it when books really call to you and won't let you go to sleep. I always get sooo frustrated if I have to put a book down that's screaming at me. lol ;) Pity the ending was a bit anti-climatic!
